Rachel Green is a newcomer to Houston's progressive dance scene, bringing with her a fresh, new artistic style with a focus on technical excellence. Her love of jazz and contemporary dance inspires her dancers to explore their own boundaries of expression, bringing an edge in their performance that is enjoyable for the artists to perform and the audience to behold.
Rachel grew up in the greater Houston area and her training reflects Houston's diversity in dance, including several years with Amy Cain and Dawn Dippel of NHPA and Dominic Walsh, Joe Celej, formally of Progressions Performing Arts and currently with New York's Elisa Monte Dance, Sheryl Rowland and Amy Duncan of Rowland Ballard and Kingwood Jazz and Company, and Kristin McCauley and Chistina Schanta of Boni's En Toure and Dorrell Martin and Marlana Walsh of Progressions Performing Arts.
Rachel began her professional career as a dancer with Houston's Metropolitan Jazz Dance Company where she danced for two seasons. She left "The Met" to pursue other opportunities including traveling to Las Vegas for a series of auditions for "So You Think You Can Dance". Upon her return home, Rachel continued to dance professionally with Psophonia Dance while also continuing her own dance training. She has worked with Round Rock Entertainment Company and J & D Entertainment of Houston and Las Vegas as well as several dance studios in the Houston area including Progressions Performing Arts, Robert Underwood's Studio of Dance, and of course, our very own The Studio of Tomball. Her new and fresh choreography has been successful in both the regional and national competitive circuit and has won several awards for excellence.
Rachel purchased The Studio of Tomball in the spring of 2010. She looks forward to working with the dancers and sharing with them her love of dance. Rachel often says that she hopes that her dedication and commitment to dance inspires young students to pursue a life within the arts.
